Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

What steps are taken by Auto Shipping TLC in transporting my vehicle?

A:

The first step is to obtain a quote online from Auto Shipping TLC or call us at (561) 369-2255. Once you have received your quote, complete and submit an order form on-line, via e-mail or fax. When all necessary paperwork is completed and sent to us, your vehicle will be scheduled for transport according to the shipment dates you provided. A truck will be dispatched to pick up your vehicle and you will be contacted by the driver or the office to schedule a pickup date and time that is convenient for you. The driver will contact you again 12-24 hours prior to the scheduled pickup time. The driver will then contact you when he is just a couple of hours away. When the driver arrives to pick up your vehicle, a detailed vehicle inspection of your vehicle will be included on the Bill of Lading (Inspection report). The driver and the person releasing the vehicle will both sign this Bill of Lading, agreeing that the car has been described correctly and you will receive a copy.. The same Bill of Lading will be presented upon delivery of your vehicle and a re-inspection will be done prior to release, so that both parties know that it arrived in the same way that it left. Both the driver and the person receiving the vehicle will sign this Bill of Lading, and a copy will be left with the receiver.

Q:

Is it door to door delivery?

A:

Door to door delivery means that the car carrier will get as close to your place of residence as physically possible without risking damage to your vehicle or the car carrier. Many cities, towns or communities may have restrictions regarding large trucks and prohibit them from entering residential areas. Car carriers are large (75 to 80 ft long) and need enough room to maneuver. If access to your residence is restricted by low bridges, narrow streets, tight turns, wires, branches/overhanging trees, or other reasons, then the driver will contact you to meet in a mutually agreed upon convenient place to pick up and deliver your vehicle.

Q:

What kind of truck will my car be transported on?

A:

Your automobile will be placed on a car carrier depending upon the service you have requested. Open car carriers are two tiered and can carry between 8 and 10 vehicles. These trucks are used by automobile dealerships for the delivering of new vehicles. Enclosed car carriers range in size and capacity. Enclosed carriers are recommended for custom, exotic, classic or valuable cars, since such carriers will prevent vehicle exposure to inclement weather and road conditions.

Q:

Will my car remain on the same carrier?

A:

Yes. Your automobile will remain on the same carrier (unless other arrangements have been made). In the event of mechanical problems or other unforeseen issues, your vehicle will be moved onto another truck to resume delivery.

Q:

How long will it take to transport my vehicle?

A:

Transport times vary depending upon the pick up and delivery points. For example, coast to coast shipments take an average of 7-10 days for delivery from the pick up date. The time may be sooner if your vehicle is being transported by tandem drivers who can reach the same distance in just 3-5 days. Shorter trips may take between 3 and 5 days. Please keep in mind that factors such as traffic, weather and truck breakdowns may delay a trip.

Q:

When should I schedule my shipment from Auto Shipping TLC?

A:

It is highly recommend that you book your order at least 1 to 3 weeks prior to the desired pick-up dates. This will help to guarantee availability of the transporter chosen.

Q:

When will my vehicle be picked up by Auto Shipping TLC?

A:

Normally a 1-3 day window is requested for the pick up your vehicle. Please keep in mind that remote locations may need 1-7 days as most trucks don't run every route on a daily basis. If the situation arises and you need your vehicle picked up the same day, or on a specific date, (because you are leaving town and cannot wait for the drive), Auto Shipping TLC will do our best to accommodate you by picking up your vehicle on a flatbed and transporting it to a terminal, or having you drop off your vehicle at a terminal until it is ready, at which time a carrier will pick up your vehicle. An additional fee will be incurred for this service.

Q:

What if I'm not available for delivery?

A:

The driver will call you 12- 24 hours prior to the delivery of your vehicle so that you will be ready for delivery. Should you not be available for delivery, you must designate someone who will act as an agent on your behalf at the delivery site with the COD due. You will also need to authorize this person to inspect the vehicle and sign the Bill of Lading on your behalf. You may also choose to have your vehicle dropped off at a terminal in your city. There will be an additional fee for this service.

Q:

Can I ship personal items with my vehicle?

A:

Yes, you may place up to 100lbs. in the trunk of the vehicle and out of site.

Q:

What forms of payment do you accept?

A:

Auto Shipping TLC will accept deposits made by Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover. The remaining balance must be paid by cash, cashier's check or money order ONLY. If you'd like to pay the full amount, you may do so when you place your order.

Q:

Is my vehicle insured?

A:

Vehicle's are insured against in-transit damage caused by carrier negligence or equipment failure by the auto transporting truck that we assign. These auto shipping and car transport trucks, by law, carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and between $30,000 to $50,000 in cargo insurance per vehicle. This will cover any damage caused during transport.

Q:

Preparation for shipping your vehicle

A:

The vehicle should be washed and all personal items removed for proper inspection. In addition, remember to remove toll payment devices and de-activate the alarm. Please be certain to have no more than 1/4 tank of gas. The carrier is weighed at state lines and excess weight can result in fines and/or delays. Make sure that when you inspect your vehicle that there are no cracks in the windows or windshield and remove or lower the antenna. In addition, make sure that the radiator has sufficient coolant.

Q:

Pick up & delivery date estimates

A:

The Department of Transportation has strict safety laws. Pick up and delivery can be estimated within the quoted 2 to 3 day window. Oftentimes there are unforeseen occurrences which is why you must allow a 2 to 3 day window from the quoted dates. These are situations that are out of the control of the driver. Experience has shown that there is approximately a 90% pick up and delivery are exactly as quoted. Please make a note that if any company assures a guaranteed date you may be disappointed.
